The Emergency Medical Technician performs and documents direct routine patient care under licensed provider's supervision according to hospitals guidelines.
High School Diploma or GED or Vocational Training
Current Florida EMT license -OR- current Florida Paramedic license
BLS from the American Heart Association
Less than 1 of practical clinical experience.
Knowledge of patient care and basic human needs within life span.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of aseptic techniques
Knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes
Knowledge of standard universal precautions
Basic knowledge of anatomic structure and human body systems
Ability to recognize obvious job-related emergencies
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to read and write in English
Recognition of lethal EKG rhythms
Performance of electrocardiograms
IV insertion
Urinary catheter insertion
Gastric tube insertion
Phlebotomy
Basic wound care
Splinting of musculoskeletal injuries
Automatic External Defibrillator operation
Chest compressions
Eye irrigation
1 or more years previous experience in a health care environment.
