About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI Receiving Center, ED Approved for Pediatrics, Geriatric ED, Level III Neonatal ICU, and Level II Trauma Center. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of staff nurses and/or physicians. The EMT also assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within their scope of practice and helps maintain a safe environment, performing under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014
  • Basic EMT Training or E.R. experience required
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Current PALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the staff nurse and / or physician
  • Assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice
  • Assists in maintenance of a safe environment
  • Performs under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse
