Provides emergency medical care based on established basic life support treatment protocols to persons of all ages; operates emergency response vehicles in compliance with state law; maintains all certifications and licenses in compliance with state regulation 105 CMR 170. Responds to requests for emergency medical assistance from the public via 9-1-1 and Computer Aided Dispatch System. Assesses, treats and transports patients with illness, injuries or a behavioral emergency. Adapt to and maintain proficiency of new technology, documentation and reporting requirements, per department policy. Maintains equipment and supplies; Participation and compliance with trainings determined by the department in the format offered. Work in hazardous situations, including but not limited to austere environments, structural collapses, fire scenes, hazardous material incidents, police operations including active shooter, ordinance and entry team coverage, and scenes of violence, in all environmental conditions. Prepare, train and be responsive to current and emerging threats, donning necessary personal protective equipment, logistics, prophylaxis medication deployment and administration, patient tracking, and assuming incident command roles. Respond to and mitigate infectious diseases of public health concern, including but not limited to modification of response protocols and training, vaccination administration, diagnostic testing, and community clinic coordination. Assigned duties as outlined in department policies, associated with Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Mobile Integrated Healthcare Emergency Department Avoidance programs, including 9-1-1 call assessment and transfer, treatment-in-place, alternative response, and alternative destination transport. Provide dedicated medical consequence management and assessments for planned and unplanned events. Complies with dept policies, procedures, and protocols. Performs other related duties as required. May be reassigned to the EMS Dispatch Operations Center; if serving as an EMT-Telecommunicator, maintain all additional required certifications. May opt into community engagement, outreach, training and preparedness assignments.
