About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) supports the care of medically fragile children in the Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The EMT assists with monitoring, emergency preparedness, basic treatments, and daily care activities while maintaining compliance with Florida PPEC regulatory standards and pediatric safety procedures.
Requirements
- Active Florida EMT certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Pediatric care experience preferred; PPEC training available.
- Ability to work under RN supervision and respond confidently to medical needs.
- Successful background screening and TB clearance required.

Responsibilities
- Assist with monitoring and responding to patient needs under RN direction.
- Provide support with respiratory equipment, tracheostomy care, and suctioning within competency and training.
- Assist with feeding, hygiene, toileting, positioning, and mobility.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the supervising RN.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and assist with stabilization as directed.
- Maintain patient safety, infection‑control practices, and clean care environment.
- Complete required documentation and participate in staff training and competencies.
