About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) position at Harnett County Emergency Medical Services involves providing basic-level life support and emergency medical care. The EMT will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, administer medical treatment, and ensure quality patient care standards are met. This full-time role requires working 24-hour shifts and includes opportunities for further training through the Paramedic Academy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Possession of a current Emergency Medical Technician Certification from the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
• Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques.
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with established emergency medical procedures and techniques.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience as an EMT is desirable.
• Possession of other applicable certifications such as BLS, EVD, and/or EVOC or equivalent.
• Possession of ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800 is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance.
• Transport patients to medical facilities, nursing homes, and medical appointments.
• Administer basic-level life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment.
• Monitor patient status and vital signs, and assist in setting up IVs.
• Gather patient medical and insurance information and input it into the computer.
• Inspect and test response vehicles and their emergency equipment.
• Maintain proper inventory of equipment and supplies and ensure they are in working order.
• Complete full patient care documentation during and after calls for service.
• Participate in continuous training programs to improve medical competence.
• Maintain cleanliness and perform minor maintenance of Emergency Medical Service facilities.
• Assist members of volunteer emergency medical service organizations as requested.
