About The Position

NaphCare is seeking to hire an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team of medical professionals in the Pueblo County Detention Center in Pueblo, Colorado . We currently have a PRN position available! Pay rates range from $21.15-$23.00 per hour. Pay rates range per hour based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional EMT , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assessing and treating patients, responding to emergencies and assisting with medical protocols. Requirements

  • Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a higher-level Paramedic program
  • Ability to obtain the necessary state licenses for EMT or Paramedic
  • Must have Colorado QMAP Certification or willing to obtain one
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to emergencies, administering medications, and coordinating with other staff to ensure inmate health and safety.
  • Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight, draw blood
  • Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions
  • Assisting with the maintenance of medical equipment and supplies within the facility
  • Complete intake screening
  • Administer and read PPD
  • Ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff during medical procedures and transport
  • Observing and reporting changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses
