Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Required; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
  • Required Skills: critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Licenses: EMT-B Required

Nice To Haves

  • Education: Two years of college Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location.
  • Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
  • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
  • Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
  • Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.
