About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at Concentra plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care as part of a dedicated healthcare team. This position involves performing routine medical procedures under the supervision of clinicians, ensuring quality care in a fast-paced environment, and supporting various operational tasks within the facility. The EMT is responsible for delivering one-on-one patient care, conducting drug and alcohol testing, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with medical procedures, all while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection certifications.
  • At least 1 year of job-related experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medical knowledge and techniques needed to treat injuries.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and PHI regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and conducting ancillary testing.
  • Perform rapid screening tests such as influenza, strep, and glucose tests.
  • Assist providers during examination and treatment.
  • Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures.
  • Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
  • Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Administer prescribed first-aid treatment and perform activities such as application of splints and administration of oxygen.
  • Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities for further treatment instructions.
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Complete applicable training including clinical competency training.
  • Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
  • Assist with patient flow and volume in partnership with center leadership.
  • Cross-train to perform Front Office duties including greeting patients and obtaining authorization.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
  • Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required.
