About The Position

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Lead Instructor - Full-time Department: 36203 Advocate Christ Medical Center - EMS Resource Center Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hou rs Per Week: 36 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Primarily Monday - Friday (36 hours/week – maximum of 8 hours per day unless otherwise approved) Flexible days/hours although onsite required (unless otherwise approved) Days/Evenings No holidays Pay Range $28.05 - $42.10

Requirements

  • Paramedic license issued by the state in which the team member practices or the state in which the team member practices, or Current Advanced Practice Provider (RN, PA, etc.) license issued by the state in which the team member practices and eligible for reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Completion of an Emergency Medical Services Provider or advanced practice provider program.
  • 4 years or equivalent (8000 hours) of experience as a licensed AEMT, Intermediate, Paramedic, or Advanced Practice Provider in pre-hospital emergency care environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous EMS teaching experience.
  • American Heart Association BCLS Instructor - Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • American Heart Association ACLS Provider - Current
  • American Heart Association ACLS Instructor – Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • American Heart Association PALS Provider – Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • EMS Instructor I license in the State in which the TM practices – Current or able to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • Valid driver’s license in the State in which the TM practices
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to manage multiple concurrent activities, meet the changing duties, volume of work, and needs of the EMS program.
  • Proficient in MS software applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, database use, internet, and use of electronic mail.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates on a professional level using excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates human relation skills with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of team members, EMS providers and physicians.
  • Self-motivated and requires little to no supervision with the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills, and prioritization of tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates coordination, collaboration, delegation and team building skills.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn the supportive technologies including online learning management system, multi-media based and emerging technologies.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
  • Must be able to: Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist. Lift up to 20 lbs over the head. Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Design/develop instructional materials/lesson plans for didactic and psychomotor educational offerings.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles to plan, develop and facilitate the EMT education program.
  • Works collaboratively with EMS Medical Director and EMS System Coordinator to evaluate, update and revise program as needed.
  • Provides instruction through a variety of methods with the ability to teach all phases of the EMT program.
  • Remain current with content, technology and teaching and learning strategies.
  • Development and administration of written and practical examinations.
  • Obtains and oversees clinical skills proctors for practical exams.
  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement simulation scenarios utilizing high-fidelity simulation lab when available.
  • Maintains program student files and clinical site agreements.
  • Develops schedules for students’ clinical rotations.
  • Provides educational counseling to students.
  • Maintains a collaborative working relationship with EMS system/EMS providers/Medical Center.
  • Participates in recruitment activities, EMS Outreach activities, and EMS Week activities.
  • Assist with the Accredited Paramedic Education Program education, EMS System education, and Training Center education as needed.
