About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) position at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital involves the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies. The EMT will work under the supervision of a staff nurse or physician, assisting with patient care based on individual needs and maintaining a safe environment in the emergency department.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Basic EMT Training or E.R. experience required.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under supervision.
• Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice.
• Maintain a safe environment in the emergency department.
• Perform duties under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
