About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join their Level 1 Trauma Center. This part-time position involves working day shifts from Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends. The EMT will play a crucial role in patient care, ensuring safety and quality in a high-pressure environment.

Requirements

• 1 year of EMT-B experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS and EMT-B certification; must be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/Certification
• Candidate must be able to attend six week training orientation upon hire
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Computer skills

Responsibilities

• Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries, and charges.
• Applies orthopedic splinting devices.
• Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
• Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility, and aeromedical.
• Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
