The Orange County Emergency Services Department has an opening for Permanent Emergency Medical Technicians. An employee in this classification is primarily responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls received by the Orange County Emergency Services Department, and administering non-emergency and/or emergency medical care at the Basic EMT level. Work involves communication with the public and co-workers at the EMS scene and driving the emergency vehicle to the hospital, obtaining vitals and assessing the patient(s) in the pre-hospital setting. Work is performed under the general supervision of the EMS Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, protocols and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision of others is not required of this position. Does related work as required.
