About The Position

This position involves performing protective service work by providing emergency medical services to both emergency and non-emergency E-911 calls. The work is conducted under the close supervision of the Paramedic Shift Supervisors. This is a full-time role that requires working 12-hour rotating shifts and attending all continuing education classes mandated by the Onslow County-Camp Lejeune EMS System. Additionally, the position requires attendance at an in-person, one-week Academy held Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700, followed by the completion of a Field Training Program after the Academy. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a skills assessment and an interview for the position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with coursework in emergency medical services or related field.
• Moderate experience as a basic emergency medical technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession and maintenance of certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Board as an Emergency Medical Technician.
• Possession and maintenance of CPR Certification by the American Heart Association.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operates ambulances to respond to emergency calls and non-emergency calls.
• Provides basic life support techniques and first-aid procedures based on patient assessment and in accordance with established guidelines and written or verbal instructions from physicians.
• Gathers basic medical and insurance information.
• Responsible for communication and documentation of patient medical information during transport to receiving medical care facility.
• Monitors patient during transport and administers additional care as needed.
• Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member.
• Performs additional tasks as required.
