About The Position

Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48 ("HCESD No. 48" or the "District") is seeking applicants for open positions of Full-Time Emergency Medical Technician Basic/Advanced. HCESD No. 48 is a combination of Fire and Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") District, providing services to residents of HCESD No. 48 and Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 1. Our service area is forty-five (45) square miles located on the west side of Harris County, between the cities of Houston and Katy, Texas. The population is approximately 150,000 persons. HCESD No. 48 responded to over fifteen thousand (15,000) Fire and EMS incidents in 2022. The Emergency Medical Technician Basic/Advanced is an At-Will employee and serves at the discretion of the Fire Chief and the HCESD No. 48 Board of Commissioners.

Requirements

  • Texas Department of State Health Services ("TDSHS") certification as an EMT-Basic and/or Advanced EMT.
  • One (1) year of direct 911 experience.
  • NIMS 100,200,700, and 800.
  • Possess and maintain certification with the American Heart Association ("AHA") Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ("CPR").
  • International Trauma Life Support ("ITLS") or recognized equivalent within six months of hire date.
  • Completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operations Class ("EVOC") before being allowed to drive District vehicles.
  • Completion of HCESD No. 48 panel board interview.
  • High school diploma.
  • Approval by the District Medical Director and credentialing.
