About The Position

Responsible for providing direct physical and technically skilled care to patients in the emergency department. This position delivers age-appropriate care under the direction of the emergency department registered nurse. This role performs various duties related to patient care, ensuring efficient and effective service. In addition, this position supports the interdisciplinary team with a holistic approach to patient care. Additionally, this role adheres to all relevant regulations and guidelines. Responsibilities for this role include providing direct care, supporting the interdisciplinary team, performing patient care duties, and adhering to regulations.

Requirements

High School Grad or Equiv
Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) OR
EMT-Advanced (EMT-A)
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)

Responsibilities

Obtains and records pain rating, weight, height, intake and output, and finger stick blood glucose.
Demonstrates efficiency with safety lights, turns, and positioning of patients to ensure correct body alignment and maintain skin integrity.
Assists patients with ADLs, including passing meals, nourishments, and fresh water at bedside.
Participates in hourly rounding and answers call lights in a timely manner.
Reports changes in vital signs and patient status to appropriate staff.
Maintains a clean, organized environment and helps with inventory of supplies and equipment.
Follows directions of registered nurses, clinical coordinators, and managers.
Supports the unit secretary by answering phones and directing patients and visitors.
Delivers and picks up items from other departments and interacts with all ancillary departments.
Completes other duties as assigned and proactively anticipates the needs of other team members.
