The Emergency Medical Services Paramedic (EMT-P) is outward facing and serves our patients as their care representative during transports between Catholic Health facilities. They will have responsibilities for responding to calls and providing Emergency Medical Services to those in need. The EMT-P will work safely and efficiently while operating an emergency vehicle delivering emergency personnel to the scene and patients to the hospitals. The EMT-P will show a thorough knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services; thorough knowledge of modern EMS principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; good knowledge of medical physiology, medical terminology, the assessment and management of medical and trauma emergencies; working knowledge of the routine maintenance and minor repair of motor vehicles; ability to administer CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support; ability to lift and move a 50-75 lb. ambulance stretcher with the help of one qualified individual; ability to lift a 250 lbs. patient (in various positions, i.e., while lying on the floor, the bed, in an automobile, etc.) with the help of one qualified individual onto a stretcher; ability to perform basic EMT duties with good judgment and compassion; ability to safely operate an emergency vehicle; ability to accurately document emergency medical calls; ability to operate two-way radio equipment; ability to perform calmly and efficiently in crisis situations; ability to accurately utilize an alphanumeric computer keyboard and to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to understand, give and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; integrity and good judgement; initiative and resourcefulness; willingness to work varied required shifts based on operational needs for 24/7 response delivery; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The EMT-P will plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care based on patient's assessment which reflects the age of patients cared for and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
