About The Position
The Emergency Management Specialist 2 position is a critical role within the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), specifically supporting the Southeast Regional office located in Chattanooga. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating emergency management operations across 15 counties in the region. The specialist will work under the general supervision of the Regional Director, acting as a central point of contact for various stakeholders, including local, state, and federal agencies. The role involves a variety of responsibilities that encompass all phases of emergency management, including prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. The position also offers the potential for remote work, allowing for up to 20% of the work to be conducted from home. In this role, the Emergency Management Specialist will be tasked with acting as a liaison between different agencies, providing guidance on emergency management processes and procedures, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards. The specialist will also be responsible for processing and analyzing grants, contracts, and budgets related to emergency management programs, maintaining accurate records, and generating reports for stakeholders. The position requires a proactive approach to managing emergency situations, including coordinating personnel and resources during activations and recovery efforts. Additionally, the specialist will need to stay informed about current emergency management standards and practices to effectively support the agency's mission.
