As an Emergency Management Specialist I, you will play a key role in strengthening the resilience of our Gas Transmission & Midstream (GTM) operations across the U.S. and Canada. You’ll support and guide regional teams in implementing Emergency Management (EM) and Business Continuity (BCP) programs that ensure we are prepared, compliant, and ready to respond. Requirements

  • University degree in occupational health and safety, environmental studies, emergency response, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible emergency response experience, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of emergency response regulations and standards in both Canada and the U.S.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, including during crisis situations.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to innovate, influence change, and deliver results.
  • Other combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or FEMA Professional Continuity Practitioner certification.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools.
  • Current knowledge of industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead GTM Business Unit functions through the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) process annually, including development, implementation, and tracking of Business Continuity and Cyber Tactical Plans.
  • Oversee BCP and Cyber Tactical exercise processes and ensure completion across GTM.
  • Represent GTM on the BCP Working Group, including conducting Critical Function Holder gap analyses and tracking BCP Framework completions.
  • Manage Quarterly Integrated Management System reporting, Emergency Management scorecards, and risk registers.
  • Ensure Management of Change documentation is complete and maintained.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and support implementation of EM programs, processes, procedures, and initiatives across GTM’s U.S. and Canadian operating regions.
  • Govern regulatory compliance for the Emergency Management Program, including maintaining compliance trackers and facilitating corrective and preventive action closure meetings.
  • Participate in internal and external EM program audits and manage assigned compliance items.
  • Develop and maintain EM SharePoint sites, distribution lists, and subscriptions (e.g., StormGeo, GETS/WPS).
  • Support Incident Management Teams and the GTM Incident Support Team during incidents and crises.
  • Lead special projects as assigned by the Emergency Management Supervisor.
