About The Position

The Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery) is responsible for managing and assisting with disaster recovery throughout the state. The position requires knowledge of financial principles and practices, as well as experience in project management. This position coordinates programmatic and financial aspects to federal grants such as: Public Assistance Fire Management Assistance Individual Assistance Disaster Case Management Program This position falls within the emergency management career ladder which establishes criteria for initial pay and pay increases, based on experience in all aspects of the profession.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, project management or a related field.
  • Four years of experience in emergency management.
  • Experience in project management and community engagement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to occasionally travel within the state and occasionally outside the state.
  • Must successfully pass background and driving records checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to local, state, and tribal stakeholders in the development and management of recovery grants.
  • Develop strategies, guidance and plans to effectively utilize funds.
  • Develop presentation materials in support of grant-related trainings and workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Research new methods, resources, techniques, and strategies with recovery planning and management.
  • Provide support to the State Emergency Coordination Center as needed
