About The Position

The Emergency Management Specialist position at the Department of Defense involves supporting emergency management functions at the site, ensuring preparedness and effective response during emergencies. The role includes assessing emergency management plans, tracking actions during missions, and promoting community preparedness initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
• Suitable for federal employment with a favorable suitability review and security clearance required.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level in federal service, demonstrating ability to perform the duties of the position.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with emergency action plans (EAP) and occupant emergency plans (OEP) for various situations.
• Experience in making recommendations for improvements to emergency management processes.
• Experience in setting up and maintaining training workshops.

Responsibilities

• Support the primary point of contact for emergency management functions at the site.
• Track actions for each mission area during an emergency as a member of the Emergency Management Team (EMT) or Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
• Assess and evaluate Emergency Management (EM) plans and Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs) at least annually, clarifying roles and responsibilities for personnel.
• Complete EM data reports, compile, prepare, and submit annual reports, and assist in preparing the All Hazards Threat Assessment (AHTA).
• Promote and support individual and community preparedness, including national preparedness campaigns, and post EM information and training for all employees.
