About The Position

The Emergency Management Fellow at NYU Langone Health is a full-time, 18-month program designed to prepare individuals for a career in emergency management and public health preparedness. The fellow will engage in various emergency management activities, including planning, training, and operational tasks, while being mentored by department leaders. This role involves significant responsibility in coordinating emergency management efforts and participating in the Incident Command System.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Urban Planning, Public Health Preparedness, or related fields.
• Experience equivalent to 1 year in emergency management, public health, or related fields.
• Demonstrated project management skills and strong communication abilities.
• Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses.
• Ability to work with data management and analysis.
• Energetic, independent, and a self-starter.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in Emergency Management or related fields.
• Experience with emergency management technology tools (e.g., SendWordNow, VEOCI).
• Ability to set up and utilize audio/visual equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead/assist interdisciplinary teams in emergency management planning, training, and exercises.
• Develop and promulgate operations-level plans and tactical procedures for emergency response.
• Build and maintain professional relationships across NYU Langone Health.
• Test, review, and update emergency operations and business continuity plans.
• Support strategic risk reviews and maintain the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis and Emergency Operations Plan.
• Serve as a 24/7 Emergency Manager OnCall after three months of employment.
• Liaise with emergency management and regulatory agencies.
• Recommend and coordinate procurement of emergency management equipment.
