The Emergency Management Coordinator at Clemson University is responsible for managing a variety of administrative and technical tasks related to emergency management. This role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of university plans, programs, and training for prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery across all university locations. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Emergency Management and will be involved in operations, planning, training, and administrative duties, ensuring effective emergency response and preparedness.

  • Assist in the development and management of Emergency Management (EM) Operations, including monitoring ongoing situations and making recommendations for EM support and response.
  • Develop and obtain approval of on-call and response rosters, and EM response checklists/procedures.
  • Advise staff and develop operational procedures to activate and maintain Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations.
  • Develop Incident Action Plans for incidents and special events, and assist EM leadership with budget issues.
  • Assist in the development and management of EM Planning, including coordination of Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
  • Develop options and recommendations to reduce risk and coordinate implementation of approved solutions.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of reviews and updates of the University's EM Plan.
  • Conduct training assessments, recommend requirements, and develop and conduct EM training.
  • Coordinate the EM Information program and assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of exercises.
  • Maintain accurate records, including expenses and equipment accounts, and assist in accreditation tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field.
  • Experience in emergency management or related field, with knowledge of state and federal emergency management requirements.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Certification in emergency management or related field (e.g., CEM, AEM).
  • Experience with training and exercise development in emergency management.
  • Familiarity with university operations and emergency response protocols.
