The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking an experienced individual to be the Emergency Management Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, implementation, and coordination of emergency management activities within the hospital. This role is critical in ensuring the hospital's readiness to respond effectively to emergencies, disasters, and other crisis situations. The Emergency Management Coordinator will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency management plans, facilitate training and exercises, and promote a culture of preparedness and resilience. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Support the development, review, and revision of the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Emergency Management Program, and Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP) to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Joint Commission and CMS standards. Conduct risk assessments and Hazard Vulnerability Analyses (HVAs) with department leaders to identify threats and vulnerabilities. Plan, implement, and evaluate emergency preparedness trainings, drills, and exercises in alignment with HSEEP standards. Develop exercise objectives, scenarios, and timelines; lead post ‑ exercise evaluations and produce After ‑ Action Reports (AARs) with corrective action recommendations. Track and monitor corrective actions to support continuous improvement in emergency preparedness. Coordinate the hospital’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies and support activation of the Incident Command System (ICS). Serve as a liaison to local, state, and federal emergency response agencies; maintain strong relationships with fire, police, EMS, and public health partners. Support post ‑ incident recovery planning, including continuity of operations. Promote a culture of preparedness by engaging staff, leadership, and community partners in emergency planning and education. Assist in developing and maintaining emergency communication and alerting systems. Provide emergency preparedness training and education for hospital staff. Collaborate with leadership to identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing and submitting grant proposals to DHS, state agencies, and other relevant entities. Participate in planning and executing at least two annual exercises related to the EOP. About the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital: Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully Joint Commission accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers. Shattuck Hospital’s services help economically and socially disadvantaged patients to get high quality, cost-effective care from a staff that respects their dignity. Located in the heart of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, the Shattuck Hospital includes 248 inpatient beds including 95 Psychiatric beds and 29 Correctional Health beds. In addition, the Shattuck has a full outpatient clinic with many specialties that offers treatment to patients of the Department of Mental Health as well as Department of Correction and House of Correction inmates and community patients. The Shattuck hospital is on the forefront of substance use disorder treatment including a Suboxone clinic serving 200 patients. In addition to direct medical services LSH hosts and supports an array of services located on the campus, serving patients struggling with addictions and homelessness.
