The Emergency Management Coordinator position at the Chicago Department of Aviation is responsible for coordinating emergency preparedness and response efforts at O'Hare and Midway International Airports. This role involves ensuring compliance with emergency plans, developing training programs, and managing emergency notification systems. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders to enhance the airport's emergency management capabilities and conduct disaster simulation exercises.

  • Coordinates with departmental staff and stakeholders to prepare for emergency incidents.
  • Ensures that emergency plans comply with the City of Chicago plans, State of Illinois plans, and Department of Homeland Security requirements and guidelines.
  • Coordinates with airport tenant agencies to develop and implement operating procedures and action plans for emergencies.
  • Works with CDA Emergency Management team to develop and implement emergency preparedness training for staff.
  • Assists in the design and development of disaster simulation exercises, including FAA-mandated exercises.
  • Coordinates logistical support for resources at the scene of emergencies and disasters.
  • Supports CDA in managing emergency notification systems and acts as a subject matter expert.
  • Conducts research regarding emergency management programs and best practices.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of work experience in emergency management, law enforcement, fire prevention, or safety operations.
  • Valid State of Illinois driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain basic airfield driving certification within six months of hire.
  • Highest level of education achieved in Public Administration, Public Safety, or Emergency Management.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in using portable communication devices such as tablets and mobile applications.
  • Completion of Emergency Management training, including FEMA ICS-300 and ICS-400 courses.
  • Salary of $71,004 per year.
