About The Position

The Regional Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a Full-time Emergency Licensed Veterinary Technician for the Day Shift in our Emergency/Critical Care Department. We offer fixed shifts from 7 am to 7:30 pm, with higher compensation for weekend work. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or LVT-VTS credentials preferred.
  • Students currently in Veterinary Technician school are also encouraged to apply.
  • 1+ years of experience in urgent, emergency, or critical care.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Perform diagnostics such as phlebotomy, cystocentesis, in-house laboratory testing (CBC's, blood chemistries, urinalysis, SNAP tests, blood typing, cross matching), blood pressures, and radiographs.
  • Take vitals and use and perform medical math.
  • May include some lifting or carrying (up to 50 lbs) and will include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Maintain medical records by documenting patients' conditions, reactions, and changes; update database in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Use critical thinking to work positively as a team player; remain calm and professional while effectively problem-solving.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills when engaging with clientele.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor, Hospital Manager, or Medical Director as needed.
