Description The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery within the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (ARNP/PA-C) positions at the rank of Teaching Associate with an estimated start date in Summer 2026. University of Washington faculty may engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for the position will be: $10,834 - $15,391 per month ($130,008 - $184,692 annually) commensurate with years of experience as a licensed ARNP or PA. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include payments for vacancy coverage or premiums for factors such as acuity, nights, call should they apply to service. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. This faculty appointment includes teaching of residents and medical students. This is an opportunity to work within an academic teaching hospital with an outstanding multidisciplinary team in the care for both elective and urgent/emergent general surgical patients. There are no overnight shifts and no call coverage.

Requirements

  • Current graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Valid Washington State licensure
  • DEA licensure required upon credentialing
  • ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to adapt with urgent and emergent patient care needs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for the teaching environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior perioperative and/or inpatient hospital experience
