About The Position
The Piedmont Henry Emergency Department is a Level III trauma center and a Fully Accredited Stroke Center, handling 75,000-90,000 visits per year with 59 licensed beds and a 3/4:1 Patient to RN Ratio. The department recently added an 18-bed Cardiac Observation Unit that works closely with the ED. The multidisciplinary team includes ED MD, ED APP, ED RN, C-RN, Flow Coordinator, Unit Based Educator, RN, ED Paramedics, Patient Care Technicians, Radiology staff, Respiratory staff, Patient Experience, and Patient Access. The role involves triage and assessment of patient complaints, medical screening exams by a qualified medical provider, treatment plan based on assessment, appropriate drug therapy, management of critically ill patients, and patient discharge education.
Requirements
- Current Georgia Basic EMT Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Registry/ Intermediate Level certification
- Previous Georgia Basic EMT Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Registry/ Intermediate Level certification
- A student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and has completed at least 1 semester of clinical rotations within an acute care hospital
- In Lieu of 2 years of patient care tech and/or Emergency Room Tech experience in lieu of EMT license
- Current BLS CPR Card Upon Hire
Responsibilities
- Participates in the clinical aspects of patient care with all members of the health care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Possess the knowledge and ability to provide care to the age specific population to which assigned.
