About The Position

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT UNIT SECRETARY JOB TITLE: Emergency Department Unit Secretary DEPARTMENT: Emergency Department FULL TIME/PRN: Full Time MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Record & Clerical Duties: Perform patient record activities and data entry; perform clerical functions; notify appropriate departments; maintain a supplied, clean, organized unit; check orders for accurate delivery; participate in quality measures; serve as first point of contact; remain composed during emergencies. Work Quantity: Ensure proper supplies; complete clerical assignments by end of shift; adapt to workload changes; coordinate clerical activity for admissions, transfers, discharges. Policies & Procedures Knowledge: Complete HealthStream assignments; maintain required computer skills; demonstrate knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology; assist in orientation; seek assistance in unusual situations; work independently. Attendance & Reliability: Adjust schedule when needed; be on time and ready; rotate shifts including weekends/holidays; use ID badge to clock in/out; maintain minimal attendance occurrences. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and providers; must perform clerical duties in fast‑paced ED environment. All candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position.
