About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician at the University of Virginia is responsible for providing technical patient care and assistance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves ensuring that treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and that patient services are organized and prioritized according to established policies and procedures. The technician will also apply safety and infection control principles to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Must be State Certified as one of the following: EMT-B, EMT-C, EMT-ST, or EMT-P
• American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
• No experience required

Responsibilities

• Render technical patient care and assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Organize and prioritize technical patient services according to Medical Center and department policies and procedures.
• Implement actions to ensure efficient and effective services to patients.
• Apply principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Interface effectively with peers and customers and assume responsibility for professional development.
