About The Position

Summary: Provides patient care in the ED as delegated by the Licensed Nursing Staff. Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course.
  • Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.
  • Two years of health care experience preferred.
  • Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential.
  • Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases.
  • Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.
  • Working and standing throughout the shift.
  • Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services.
  • Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
  • Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.
