About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician at UM Capital Region Health plays a crucial role in supporting nurses and physicians in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Current Maryland certification in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 2 or more years of applicable experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and complete responsibilities delegated by nurses and physicians.
  • Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, crutch walking, and foley catheter placement.
  • Assist providers in the delivery of care and support patients with physical and psychological limitations.
  • Transport patients and specimens as needed.
  • Perform point-of-service lab testing according to protocol and quality control standards.
  • Communicate test results to appropriate staff and document in the medical record.
  • Maintain supply inventory necessary for daily operations.
  • Ensure used equipment is cleaned and ready for the next patient.
  • Observe patient conditions and communicate needs or problems to licensed clinical staff.
  • Promptly answer call lights for all patients in the area.
