About The Position

The Vice President of Hospital Operations at Advocate South Suburban Hospital is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administration over operations while focusing on revenue growth and improving operating margins. This role involves directing leaders to be fiscally responsible and meet productivity standards in resource utilization, staffing patterns, and operational efficiency. The VP ensures effective utilization of resources, including length of stay and the use of inpatient, home care, and outpatient care, to provide the right care in the right place at the right time. The position also includes implementing clinical operations that optimize best patient care practices aligned with organizational initiatives, interpreting marketplace changes, and participating in quality assurance initiatives to enhance the organization's market advantage. The VP establishes effective goals and objectives, strategizes to grow and improve programs, and assesses services to ensure compliance with care, quality, and regulatory standards. Additionally, the role involves developing physician relationships, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and performing human resources responsibilities for staff.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Health Care Administration or related field.
  • Typically requires 15 years of experience in health care administration.
  • Includes 10 years of management experience in a large complex health care organization.
  • Expert knowledge of various external market forces affecting assigned clinical areas.
  • Expert level knowledge of the health care industry to manage multiple clinical programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products.
  • Demonstrated success working closely with physicians and providers.
  • Knowledge in the guidelines and requirements of applicable Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and administration over operations while growing revenue and improving operating margins.
  • Directs leaders to be fiscally responsible and meet productivity standards in resource utilization, staffing patterns, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures effective utilization of resources including length of stay and the use of inpatient care, home care, and outpatient care.
  • Implements clinical operations consistent with programs that optimize best patient care practices.
  • Interprets changes in the marketplace and participates in quality assurance initiatives.
  • Establishes effective goals and objectives for efficient operations and superior clinical performance.
  • Strategizes and identifies opportunities to grow/improve programs and advance care management improvements.
  • Implements and assesses care management and patient experience initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains physician relationships.
  • Ensures compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and enforces existing policies and procedures.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff including interviewing, promotions, and performance evaluations.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures.
  • Ensures compliance with the Advocate Code of Ethical Conduct.
