The ED Technician is a specially trained bedside caregiver who assists the professional nursing staff in performing routine care, performs specialized technical skills, reports any unusual incident or findings, and maintains patient safety at all times to a group of patients for a designated time period. Care given by an ED Technician is in accordance with standards and procedures of the hospital.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• One year acute care hospital experience or one year experience as an EMT basic on an ambulance crew or Patient Care Technician.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current EMT Basic, Patient Care Tech, Certified Nurse Assistant Certification, or 6 months of experience as patient care tech/assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist the professional nursing staff in performing routine care.
• Perform specialized technical skills.
• Report any unusual incidents or findings.
• Maintain patient safety at all times.
