About The Position

The Emergency Department Registrar plays a crucial role in the registration and reimbursement process for patients and families presenting to the Emergency Department. This position involves greeting patients, collecting necessary registration data, and ensuring accurate entry into the computer database. The registrar is responsible for obtaining required signatures, scanning consents, and directing patients to appropriate departments, all while providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year office or customer service experience required.
• One year medical office experience providing customer service, or in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Bilingual skills desirable.
• Knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic, Experian, and MyChart is desirable.
• Familiarity with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• A positive attitude and a desire to provide exceptional customer service are necessary.

• Experience in a healthcare environment such as a physician practice or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and enter patients into the computer database.
• Select the correct medical record number and band the patient.
• Interview patients or their representatives to collect required registration data.
• Enter patient information into the computer database.
• Obtain required signatures and scan consents.
• Print labels and direct or escort patients to appropriate departments.
• File reports, answer telephones, and update computer records.
• Scan insurance cards and collect ED copays and deductibles.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
