About The Position

The position is for a part-time Registered Nurse in the SSH Emergency Department, located at 55 Fogg Road, Weymouth, MA. The role involves managing individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, and providing care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies. The nurse will be responsible for medication administration, developing and documenting care plans, ensuring patient safety and quality, and engaging in professional development. The shift is an evening/night rotation, requiring 24 hours of work per week.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification may be required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Response Training Certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications according to SSH policies and procedures.
  • Complete medication reconciliation following SSH policy.
  • Document narcotic withdrawal and administration accurately.
  • Develop and communicate a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient.
  • Initiate admission assessments within 8 hours and document patient/family teaching needs.
  • Continuously assess and document patient care following nursing policies.
  • Raise ethical questions and concerns with the clinical team.
  • Facilitate discharge/transfer by 12:00 PM and communicate barriers.
  • Verify patient identification with two identifiers before procedures.
  • Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and maintain a safe environment.
  • Obtain at least 5 contact hours per year for professional development.
  • Utilize technology for work processes and practices.
  • Safeguard patient information and comply with privacy policies.
