About The Position

The Emergency Department Pediatrician at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is responsible for evaluating, treating, and managing pediatric patients from birth to 18 years old. This role involves direct patient care, collaboration with healthcare teams, and ensuring compliance with medical standards. The physician will also supervise clinical providers, participate in educational and research activities, and assist with administrative tasks as needed. Requirements

  • Doctorate Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
  • Medical License in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and any states practicing in - upon hire Required
  • Board Certification in Medical Sub/Specialty - upon hire Required
  • DEA License - upon hire Required
  • Working knowledge of hospital policies, practices, and protocols
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications
  • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-making
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public
  • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to a panel of patients in the practice.
  • Supervise clinical providers including resident physicians and nurse practitioners.
  • Ensure high quality of all clinical care services provided in the practice.
  • Review current pediatric standards of care and implement new processes as needed.
  • Respond to clinical alerts and updates from public health officials.
  • Support and lead resident/medical student education curriculum and program implementation.
  • Participate in and oversee research activities at the practice.
  • Assist with management of the practice, including patient access and quality improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental standards, policies, guidelines, and protocols.
