The Nurse Practice Specialist is the clinical and education lead for a program or an area of defined nursing practice. This role provides leadership to integrate new knowledge and innovation within a specialty area and appreciates system levels to help close the gap ensuring healthcare delivery is safe, timely, effective, evidence-based, equitable, efficient, and patient/family focused.

Requirements

  • Professional Nursing Certification required (CCRN, CEN, OCN, etc.)
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and three years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least two years of recent experience in the area of concentration.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Inter professionally collaborates with and provides expert consultation to administrative leaders, educators, nurses, and physicians to lead clinical practice.
  • Promote and maintain quality improvement to improve patient and population health outcomes on the unit, within the service line, and across the organization.
  • Contribute to the advancement of nursing practice at the unit/system, local, state, national, and/or international level.
  • Participate in and lead organizational and hospital-based professional activities to maintain and/or contribute knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Direct and manage process improvement projects and initiatives that are congruent with EHC and nursing's strategic plan for innovation in healthcare.
  • Influence and guide direct care for complex patients with multi-system issues.
  • Evaluate all processes to determine effective implementation and outcomes needed to meet patient goals.
  • Provide guidance in improving the health of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Mentor and coach professional development, including collaboration with resident nurses on their evidence-based projects.
