About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse Manager (RN) to provide evening-shift leadership within a high-volume, trauma-capable emergency department in Independence, Missouri . This role is responsible for clinical, operational, and people leadership across the Emergency Department during peak evening hours. The Nurse Manager serves as a hands-on leader and clinical resource, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational efficiency. This position is well-suited for an experienced ED Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager ready to lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency environment.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri or compact eligible)
  • 2+ years of recent Emergency Department experience
  • ED Charge Nurse experience considered; prior manager experience preferred
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Diploma
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to lead in a fast-paced environment
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 90 days of hire
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Operational Leadership
  • Provide leadership and oversight of Emergency Department operations during evening hours
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care delivery
  • Monitor patient flow, throughput, staffing, and resource utilization
  • Serve as a clinical role model and escalation resource for the ED team
  • People Management
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary ED staff, including nurses, paramedics, technicians, and support personnel
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and corrective action as needed
  • Promote engagement, accountability, and professional development within the department
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellence initiatives
  • Support staff education, competency validation, and ongoing training
  • Administrative & Financial Oversight
  • Assist with budget awareness, staffing productivity, and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate department operations with hospital leadership and ancillary departments
  • Support communication and alignment between frontline staff and leadership
