About The Position

The Emergency Department (ED) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and supportive care to patients in a fast-paced emergency care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed healthcare provider. This role supports patient intake, basic care, and efficient patient flow while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

Requirements

Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New York preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred)
Minimum 1 year of recent CNA experience, preferably in an emergency department or acute care setting
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations
Basic knowledge of emergency care procedures and patient safety protocols

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures
Obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output, and report abnormalities
Support patient intake, triage processes, and room preparation
Assist with procedures such as wound care, splinting, EKGs, and specimen collection
Transport patients to diagnostic areas and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment
Ensure timely room turnover to support emergency department flow
Follow infection control protocols and safety standards
Document patient care activities accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Respond promptly to patient needs and assist during emergency situations
