About The Position

Under general supervision, interviews patients to obtain necessary information, prepare admission/registration forms and performs other clerical/computer operational tasks related to the admission of inpatients and outpatients coming into our Medical Center. Education: HS or GED Experience: 6 months’ experience. Emergency Department or Hospital experience preferred. Skills: • Knowledge in medical terminology. • Skill in using computers. • Skill in oral and written communication • Skill in data analysis to gather and update statistics, logs, records and reports. • Skill in customer service techniques. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Requirements

  • HS or GED
  • 6 months’ experience

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Department or Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs admitting functions, i.e. RTM, Meditech, Bedtracking, and communicates/informs RN, Clinical Unit Coordinator and/or Admin Coordinator
  • Reports to work on time and be ready to work.
  • Answer incoming calls within 3 rings and make outgoing calls as requested.
  • Answers call bells and communicates/informs Tech and/or RN.
  • Ensures patients are getting to testing on time.
  • Ensure paperwork for downtime charting is fully stocked. Other clerical duties as assigned, such has stock paper in copiers/fax machines.
  • Keep accurate logs of calls made. Ensures admission logs, ED physician and on-call physician lists are up to date.
  • Update broken equipment/equipment repair log.
  • Arrange for proper ambulance transports (such as Hart to Heart or Procare) for transfers.
  • Copy paperwork for transfers to another facility, i.e. SEPH, nursing home or higher level of care.
  • Order dietary trays as requested.
  • Changing bed/linens and bring back patients, as requested.
