About The Position

The Emergency Communications Supervisor is responsible for supervising, directing, scheduling, and training all Communications Officers, as well as managing the Public Safety Communications Center. This role includes overseeing the programming, operation, and maintenance of the foundation's electronic fire detection, security, data management, and alarm monitoring hardware and software systems, along with analyzing and distributing information generated from Public Safety records and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of (typically up to 2 years of experience) being a supervisor.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a communications operator in a control center dedicated to emergency response through radio and telephone communication.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates the Public Safety Communications Center and all Communications Officers (dispatchers), including hiring, training, monitoring, evaluating, and, when necessary, termination.
  • Maintains knowledge of current emergency communications technologies; relevant ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations; local geography; and principles of personnel supervision.
  • Compiles and analyzes reports and statistics related to calls for service, including general service requests, emergency responses, fire alarms, suspicious activity, property damage, and vehicular accidents.
  • Manages and maintains the foundation's electronic fire detection, security, alarm monitoring, card access, key control, computer-aided dispatch, report management, and related database systems.
  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of all security communications and data processing equipment, including fire/intrusion detection systems, access control systems, radio systems, CCTV, voice/video recorders, and electronic key safes.
  • Programs and audits access controls for card and key systems, assigning access levels and codes as approved, and repairing or reprogramming inoperable key positions.
  • Coordinates the acquisition, installation, testing, and maintenance of field electronic devices with Facilities Maintenance and security system contractors.
  • Selects, approves, tests, and certifies new or replacement fire detection and security equipment; conducts periodic audits to ensure data integrity; and provides end-user training.
  • Leads Public Safety systems projects, evaluating network needs, coordinating cabling and infrastructure with IT, and managing the planning, acquisition, and installation of fire alarm control panels across all properties.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies, oversees system upgrades, data conversions, and custom imports to ensure efficient security and safety information management.
  • Directs the collection, compilation, analysis, and distribution of Public Safety systems and incident data.
