About The Position

The position is for a full-time night shift role (7pm-7am) that coordinates all service requests for the Air Care Team and/or Critical Care Trucks or Emergency Transfer Center. The role involves dispatching, communication, and coordination of patient transport within the Orlando Health system.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course; or CNA license; or EMS Dispatch.
  • State of Florida EMT license may be substituted in lieu of course.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a clinical healthcare setting; or a State of Florida EMT license may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform primary flight following duties for all Air Care Team aircraft and Critical Care Trucks.
  • Communicate with all flight/ground crew as needed, relaying important information to ensure safe flight and increase situational awareness.
  • Provide safe conduction of all flight/ground operations for all heliports, FSEDs, and Bases affiliated with the Air Care Team and Critical Care Trucks.
  • Coordinate interfacility transport of patients within the OH system/network.
  • Answer incoming requests for service and coordinate operations for the Air Care Team and Critical Care Trucks.
  • Utilize multiple telephones, computers, mapping software, radios, flight applications, dispatch software, and other technology/software as required.
  • Triages and performs multiple critical tasks in a stressful environment calmly and collectively.
  • Operate specialized computer systems and EHR/EMR for rapid entry and processing of all requests for air medical services.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to facilitate transfer and transport requests.
  • Demonstrate competency in unit specific tasks and skills as defined by unit specific competency list.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies.
  • Utilize policies, procedures, and algorithms to facilitate critical thinking required to transfer and transport patients.
  • Collaborate with leadership to receive proper clinical support to ensure safe and timely transport and transfer of patients.
