The Emergency Certification Teacher is responsible for the design and implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student assigned to the classroom. This includes assessing the functioning level of each student and developing and implementing objectives based on this assessment. The teacher will evaluate the effectiveness of the program and participate in the students’ interdisciplinary IEP team meetings. They will write functional educational goals based on individual student needs in accordance with state laws, federal laws, and Woods Services policies. Additionally, the teacher prepares and implements daily written lesson plans, develops teaching methods and techniques as determined to be appropriate for each student in accordance with the approved IEP/IHP/ISP and client assessments. The teacher will use objective data collection systems and approved Progress Monitoring systems to help ensure that students are making adequate progress on IEP goals and objectives. They will also develop and implement individual student behavioral programs, maintain and utilize adaptive/assistive equipment and devices, and assist with proper feeding, toileting, positioning, and care of students. Completing all required paperwork in accordance with Woods and program policies and procedures is also a key responsibility. The teacher may assist with student transportation before and after school if necessary, direct activities of instructional aides, and is responsible for directing and coaching all staff members in the classroom. The position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and meet other physical requirement standards.
