THIS IS A NIGHT POSITION with typical shifts hours from 7PM TO 7AM. JOB SUMMARY: • Scribing patient database, limited physician orders and physician notes into Electronic Medical Record. • Retrieve and collate patient records. • Telephone and communication liaison for physician. • Patient room set up as appropriate. • Monitor First Net Patient Tracking board and communicate status of pending diagnostic tests to physicians and nursing staff, and facilitate patient flow in general. • Insure completion of 100% of patient discharge phone calls. • Assist as appropriate with coordination of patient/family dcare in a patient relations function. • Assist physicians with DME arrangements and clinic referral appointments. • Miscellaneous tasks assigned to facilitate physician efficiency. REPORTS TO: JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Participate in all mandatory organizational events: o Departmental staff meetings o Mandatory organizational in-services • Proficient in scribing patient data into electronic medical record. • Proficient in communication with EC physicians, consulting physicians, nursing staff, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and ancillary staff. • Proficient in communication as appropriate with patients and families. • Proficient in facilitating patient flow through monitoring of FirstNet Tracking Board. • Proficient in follow-up with all discharged patients: o Performs 100% of assigned discharge phone calls. o Appropriately involves physician staff and nursing staff with patient questions and concerns regading medical conditions, discharge instructions, and/or treatment or medical follow-up. • Competent in assisting with DME arrangements. • Performs miscellaneous tasks assigned eagerly and competently. • Serves as an advocate for nursing staff by presenting their ideas and/or concerns to appropriate Administrative/Committees. • Is a contributing part of the multidisciplinary team in the EC, respectful to all disciplines and clearly part of the team, rather than part of an insulated subgroup of the physician team. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Communicates equipment needs of physician group to Medical Director Assistant. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school/GED • Some College preferred • Medical terminology preferred • Anatomy & Physiology preferred REQUIRED LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS: None. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Must maintain excellent computer skills and data entry skills; Electronic Medical Record accessing and data entry, word processing, excel spreadsheet, Lawson. • Must possess excellent telephone and communication skills. • Fluent in medical terminology. INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS: This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on duty. Occasional lifting of patients with assistance is required. Talking and hearing is essential in communication with patients, physicians, nursing staff and ancillary support staff and in receiving doctor's orders and doctor's notes. Near visual acuity required to work with charts and records. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department as prescribed by the philosophy of the hospital. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is high risk. Requirements
