About The Position

The Emergency Center Patient Business Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing departmental operations within the Memorial Hermann Health System. This position focuses on quality improvement, staff mentoring, and ensuring accurate registration and billing processes. The coordinator is responsible for handling escalated issues, scheduling staff, and providing training and education to team members, all while promoting a culture of safety, compassion, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting preferred.
  • Proficient typing/keyboarding skills.
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Knowledge of billing and registration processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management in overseeing departmental operations.
  • Mentor other employees as a quality improvement coordinator.
  • Ensure accurate completion of registration and monitor reports for data integrity.
  • Handle escalated issues and provide resolutions.
  • Schedule staff and manage staff training and education.
  • Complete quality reviews and monitor for process improvement opportunities.
  • Calculate percentage of error for key elements and report to management.
  • Participate in educational endeavors of the department.
  • Prepare and analyze operations reports, correcting errors as needed.
  • Interact with all staff levels to ensure resolution of issues.
  • Research and correct accounts as required to protect financial integrity.
  • Participate in department staff meetings and in-services.
  • Monitor, review, and resolve patient account issues on assigned reports.
  • Perform account analysis and trending.
  • Communicate effectively with all Patient Access customers.
