The EMCS Technician II performs journeyman level work in the repair, maintenance, service, modification, troubleshooting, inspection, and monitoring of the operation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and EMCS (Energy Management Control System) systems. Monitor and adjust the full range of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment by means of an energy management system as well as hands-on work. Write, modify, code, analyze, enhance and debug EMS computer control software programming and trains others in the use of controls software programming. Set up, troubleshoot, repair, test and calibrate electronic components for EMS computer control. Troubleshoot, maintain, modify and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and equipment including direct expansion and hydronic systems, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric and pneumatic controls, and associated safety, overcurrent and other protection devices. Ensure completed work meets quality control standards. Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions. Respond to customer inquiries and complaints. Must be able to work independently and as a team. All Other Duties/Projects as Assigned

Requirements

  • High school graduate, supplemented by completion of a Union, private (in-house), military, or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job work.
  • A valid State of Virginia Journeyman HVAC license.
  • Minimum five years journeyman experience working as an HVAC mechanic in a commercial, industrial, or large facilities environment,
  • At least two years of EMCS (Energy Management Control System) or control systems experience relevant to proprietary EMS software programs and general electronics controls related to HVAC equipment.
  • EPA Universal HVAC Certification, required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have the ability and be willing to work outside of normal working hours such as back shift and weekends, in the event of unplanned outages.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Ft Lee, Virginia installation clearance and CAC card.
  • Required drug screening, physical, and background check
  • A valid state driver license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by HMG’s insurance company.
  • A HMG application is required (may include a resume).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Metasys, Honeywell, and LON controls, preferred.
  • Knowledge of BACnet, preferred.
