About The Position

The Role: Set-up and test electronic components for radiated emissions, radiated immunity, conducted emissions, conducted immunity transients, and electrostatic discharge testing. Collect and assemble test results and prepare test reports. Troubleshoot Device Under Test (DUT) malfunctions. Utilize complex electronic equipment to evaluate vehicle and/or component EMC performance. Building EMC test cable harnesses, load boxes, and breakout boxes, for component testing and test facility instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (minimum 2 years) in Automotive Technology or Electrical/ Electronics Technology, or equivalent relevant military experience.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with soldering.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, including wire strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, and heat guns.
  • Experience fabricating cable harnesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical component schematics and follow detailed technical instructions.
  • Proficiency with standard technical tools and applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel), SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with EMC test SW e.g., NEXIO, Elektra
  • Familiar with electronic measurement instrumentation e.g., test receivers, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meters, multi-meter, etc.
  • Experience supporting electrical/electronic root cause
  • Experience with automated wire processing equipment CNC Machine Experience
  • Knowledge of various automotive connectors, terminals and locks
  • Strong communication skills; including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, both multi-functionally and cross- culturally

Responsibilities

  • Perform all applicable GMW and Regulatory testing related to component Radiated Emissions (RE), Radiated Immunity (RI), Conducted Emissions (CE), Conducted Immunity (CI) Transients, Portable Immunity and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
  • Preparation of devices under test (DUTs) and lab environment for component EMC testing
  • Collect test results and prepare test reports
  • Assist EMC component engineering teams in the root cause of failures identified during test
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and yearly EMC test equipment and facility maintenance
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Assemble connectors and route wires into harnesses
  • Perform harness build verification testing
  • Champion a safety-first environment, escalating safety issues to leadership and responsible individuals
