The EMC Engineer at Intertek is responsible for independently conducting testing and evaluation of various products to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and international EMC/EMI standards. This role involves writing reports, communicating with clients, and utilizing a range of testing equipment to assess product performance and safety. The position offers an opportunity to grow within the electrical industry, leveraging over 100 years of expertise in product testing.

  • Independently conducting evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standards.
  • Reading and determining applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the equipment under test (EUT).
  • Identifying and locating test instruments and equipment required for testing while following an established test plan.
  • Supplying information for quotes such as length of project, samples, and standards that will be used.
  • Setting up and operating standard test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, amplifiers, and surge generators.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting, testing, repair, and servicing of technical equipment and documenting repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Conducting basic analysis of test data and routine calculations.
  • Interacting with customers in a professional manner.
  • Working closely with lead/crew members and taking direction to complete projects within established policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining daily cleanup and organization of projects, work equipment, and tools.
  • Attending mandatory training sessions on new products and safety protocols.
  • Compiling data and product descriptions to finalize reports using established templates.
  • Following sample handling procedures to ensure proper logging of samples.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, electrical engineering preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently.
  • Adherence to safety practices and policies.
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and hand tools.
