About The Position

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is an integral part of our work to ensure the safe and reliable operations of nuclear facilities. AMS provides several solutions to its customers, including design reviews, EMC qualification testing, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) site surveys to support equipment upgrades, and site-wide implementation of wireless devices. The EMC Engineer will support work both in the laboratory and in the field. They will develop test plans, perform testing and troubleshooting, analyze results, and prepare technical documentation according to AMS's Quality Assurance (QA) program. They will also work with other departments including the software development team to enhance EMC testing and reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering and five years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience performing MIL-STD-461 and/or IEC 61000 series of emissions and immunity tests.
  • Knowledge of spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, oscilloscopes, RF amplifiers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Experience developing EMC test plans and test reports.
  • Knowledge of EMC equipment calibrations and measurement uncertainty analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans and perform EMC qualification testing in laboratory and field.
  • Use specialized hardware and software to characterize electromagnetic environments.
  • Perform EMI/RFI troubleshooting and noise mitigation.
  • Analyze equipment and test results to provide justifications when troubleshooting is not possible.
  • Prepare technical documentation.
  • Perform research and development activities related to EMC.
  • Work with software developers to enhance EMC testing and reporting capabilities.
  • Travel 5 to 10 times per year for an average 5-day duration per trip to perform field service testing at national and international nuclear power plants and other customer facilities.
