About The Position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Missile Systems Software Engineering Lead to join a Government Consulting company located in Arlington, VA (Crystal City) through 100% onsite work. The Missile Systems Software Engineering Lead will oversee embedded software systems development for a Navy missile program, working closely with engineering teams and government clients to manage software audits, design reviews, and lifecycle processes.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software design, development, and process management
Proficiency in C++ and Python, with experience in embedded systems
Strong understanding of change control processes, software auditing, and lifecycle management
Prior experience supporting DoD or military programs, ideally in missile or defense systems
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
Active Top Secret clearance required

Responsibilities

Oversee embedded software development and ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards (not in the weeds with development)
Cost estimation and schedule management
Participate in change control boards and evaluate software design changes for impact on hardware systems
Conduct software audits and validation activities in collaboration with prime contractors
Provide technical leadership and recommendations to engineering teams and stakeholders
Support software lifecycle management, including documentation, testing, and process improvement
